Introduction
The Top Bar navigation links are sometimes referred to as ‘Main’ navigation as they provide the means of accessing the major areas of the website. When the user hovers the mouse over the link the cursor will change to the ‘Hyperlink Hand’ and the text will change from dark grey to light grey. In this example the ‘Members’ link has been highlighted. A single click will direct the user to that particular area. ![]() A brief overview of these areas is below: Home – The main index page of the website which contains quick overview information of current information such as the latest news items and the latest fixtures (see Home Page).
Forum – The forum is the main place for registered members to discuss certain aspects of the website or club business (see Forum).
Members – This is the area for a registered member to enter and make changes and amendments to their user account (see Members Area).
Login – The first thing any newly registered member needs to do is log in. This form provides the means of doing so (see Logging In).
Register – Here is where guests who wish to sign up to use the forum and get a newsletter subscription would fill in their details and register with the site.
Help – Opens the ‘Help Centre’ of the website in a new window to provide the user with help documents on using the website and potential errors.
These main areas of the website provide basic functionality for the user but do not contain any relevant information, except perhaps for the Forum. The pages of the website that contain the information can be accessed via the Side Bar Navigation links (see Side Bar Navigation). NOTE:The areas accessed by the Side Bar links are called ‘Page’ Navigation links because the content within can be altered, updated, modified and deleted from the ‘Administration’ side of the website. This is in contrast to the ‘Main’ areas which provide functionality rather than information, and although these functions have configurable settings, they do not rely on the Administrator inputting information into them like the website pages do.
